Nabaltec AG

Nabaltec AG is a manufacturer of environmentally friendly, flame-retardant fillers and specialty oxides. The highly specialised products are developed on the basis of aluminium hydroxide and aluminium oxide and marketed in two segments, "Functional Fillers" and "Specialty Oxides".

Aluminium hydrate and aluminium oxide specialties from Nabaltec AG are used in state-of-the-art materials and stand for safety in e-mobility.

• Extremely thin coatings of APYRAL® AOH /ACTILOX® (boehmite) or Nabalox® (aluminium oxide) are used as protective shields in separator foils for lithium-ion batteries. By using Nabaltec products, the separator foil can withstand a wide range of thermal, mechanical and electrical loads and thus prevent the thermal runaway and fire of individual cells or the entire battery.
• A battery pack consists of several cells between which a gap-filler is inserted. The partially elastic gap-filler is intended to protect the individual cells mechanically. In the latest battery generations for high-voltage fast charging, these layers are designed to be thermally conductive. APYRAL® HC (aluminium hydroxide) or Nabalox® HC (aluminium oxide) are used for this purpose. The products specially developed for this purpose ensure high filling degrees and high thermal conductivity, while at the same time still allowing the filling compounds to be processed. In addition, they are flame retardant.
• Ceramic components made of Granalox® (ready-to-press granulates based on aluminium oxide) are used in control electronics, sensors and high-voltage converters.
• APYRAL® (aluminium hydroxide) is used as a flame retardant in charging cables and in power cables for charging infrastructure.

Its core competence is the production of microparticles up to tailor-made submicron and nanoparticles, which can be found in our product portfolio.

Nabaltec maintains production sites in Germany and the USA and plans to further expand its market position through capacity expansions, further process and quality optimisations as well as strategic expansions of the product range.
