NanoCarbon Annual Conference 2025 – A Hub for Innovation and Exchange

The NanoCarbon Annual Conference 2025, held on March 18 - 19 in Würzburg, brought together an engaged community of researchers, industry professionals, and innovators to discuss the latest developments in the field of carbon nanomaterials. Organised by Nanoinitiative Bayern GmbH / Cluster Nanotechnology already in its 10th edition, the event once again proved to be a key meeting point for those driving forward innovation with CNTs, graphene, carbon black and related materials.

Throughout the two-day conference, participants had the opportunity to engage in a dynamic program of technical presentations, short pitches, posters, and an accompanying exhibition. With a focus on open dialogue and collaboration, the event fostered valuable exchanges across disciplinary and sectoral boundaries.

This year’s topics ranged from safety and sustainability assessments, to advanced energy storage solutions, nanocomposite development, and cutting-edge analytical techniques. Lively discussions followed talks on the regulatory landscape, lifecycle analyses, and material innovations—reflecting the community’s commitment not only to technological advancement but also to responsible implementation.

Highlights included:

  • Broad international participation, with speakers from Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Latvia, Portugal, Luxembourg, USA, China, and Germany
  • A high level of interaction during poster sessions and networking breaks
  • Insightful short pitches that gave space to emerging ideas and early-stage results

The spirit of collaboration was especially tangible during the informal parts of the program, where conversations continued beyond the sessions and new partnerships began to take shape. The conference closed with a joint status meeting of the Network NanoCarbon and MAI Carbon Cluster, emphasizing the importance of continued networking and knowledge exchange within the community.

The NCAC 2025 once again confirmed that innovation in nanocarbon technologies thrives through interdisciplinary dialogue and long-term collaboration. We thank all participants for their contributions and look forward to seeing this vibrant community grow even further in the years ahead.

Beyond the industrial and academic exchange, the conference also recognised outstanding R&D through its traditional poster exhibition. This year, the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden received first place, while Resonac Corporation from Japan was awarded second place for their impressive contributions.

Looking ahead, the NanoCarbon community is already looking forward to the next Annual Conference, set to take place on May 05–06, 2026, once again in Würzburg. As we collectively explore the evolving landscape of nanocarbon materials, these events continue to provide an essential space for collaboration, innovation, and the pursuit of sustainable, forward-thinking solutions. We look forward to welcoming you back next year – join us and help shape the future of nanocarbon technology.
