The Cluster Nanotechnology delivered a strong presence at the European Coatings Show (ECS) 2025 (March 25–27, Nuremberg), reinforcing its role as a key driver of innovation in functional coatings and nanotechnology. Hosting a joint stand in Hall 1, Stand 357 with partners INM-Leibniz Institute for New Materials, Surface Measurement Systems, and EZD - Europäisches Zentrum für Dispersionstechnologien, the cluster showcased cutting-edge advancements in nano-enhanced coatings, adhesives, and materials, such as antimicrobial coatings, sustainable conductive inks, and advanced measuring devices for nano-specific questions.
Overall, the Cluster Nanotechnology’s joint stand at ECS 2025 was a great opportunity to connect with industry experts, share knowledge, and promote collaboration between research institutions and companies. Together with the co-exhibitors, the Cluster Nanotechnology impressively demonstrated the importance of nanotechnology for the development of smarter, more sustainable coatings and materials. The event set a positive tone for future projects and partnerships, with upcoming meetings like the Network Day of the Cluster Nanotechnology in Würzburg planned to continue this momentum.
The Cluster Nanotechnology’s co-exhibitors at ECS 2025 contributed special expertise to the joint stand and presented various solutions for industrial challenges, from formulation stability to sustainable coatings and their characterization:
Another highlight was the involvement of the networks nanoInk and NanoAnalytics at the joint booth. The nanoInk network focused on special nano-inks and inkjet printing technologies, demonstrating how nanomaterials can improve industrial printing processes with functional and decorative inks. Meanwhile, NanoAnalytics contributed by presenting advanced methods for analyzing and characterizing nanomaterials and coatings, which are essential for ensuring quality and reliability in these new products.
The joint booth successfully facilitated discussions on cross-sector partnerships, reflecting the cluster’s commitment to bridging research and industry. With over 1,200 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors at ECS 2025, the event provided an ideal stage for the Cluster Nanotechnology to solidify its position as a central point of contact for nanotechnology-based industrial solutions.
Post-event outlook: The cluster’s upcoming Network Day in Würzburg (July 2–3, 2025) will further advance these collaborations, focusing on interdisciplinary R&D opportunities.
